October 26 – 31, 2017
This year turned out to be my first year since 1984 that the water temperatures have been high and have prevented the Striped Marlin from being in the waters of the East Cape, both in late May and the end of October.
Thank goodness for the Tuna and a few Dorado and 2 Blue Marlin for this trip The totals as we finished were 10 Dorado and 52 Tuna.
The awards were presented by Tracey and Mike Totey from Albany, Oregon.
Second Place Team – Mike Totey and John Kaeser of Seabeck, Washington
Second Place angler – John Kaeser
We had 3 Rookie Anglers on this one and the Top Rookie has a lot to brag about.
Paul Cahill of Vancouver, Washington took the Top Non Bill fish with a 22 lb. Tuna. He then proceeded to take the top team honors with his partner Lynn Barefoot.
Paul then was awarded Top angler and Top Rookie Awards. His 2 day totals of fish were: 11 tuna and a Blue Marlin.
Out of the last 34 Rookie Anglers (Never caught a Bill Fish) 30 have caught their first on a Fish With Me trip. This was catching like never before by a Rookie. In addition, Paul was the Top Angler for 2017 and has a Free Room next year.
